O violino de Marcus Viana é uma constante presença ao longo de todas as faixas, conferindo um toque cativante de folk, tanto sul-americano quanto celta, além de elementos clássicos que enriquecem a sonoridade do disco.

Com Farol da Liberdade, a banda se afastou das influências new wave e pop do álbum anterior, mergulhando em uma proposta mais alinhada com o progressivo sinfônico, um caminho que ressoa profundamente com o histórico dos músicos. A faixa “Pantanal” é indiscutivelmente a mais conhecida do álbum e da banda, em grande parte devido ao seu sucesso como tema da novela homônima. O tema principal muda abruptamente para uma linha mais rock, oferecendo um final requintado. “Olivia” surge como um breve interlúdio acústico sinfônico, criando uma atmosfera excelente e envolvente.

Os duelos entre violinos, teclados e guitarra são os aspectos mais atraentes da canção. A faixa final, “The Central Sun of the Universe” é a única com letras em inglês e encerra o álbum muito bem. Com mais de onze minutos, a música combina flauta pastoral, piano, orquestrações e o majestoso violino, criando uma experiência sonora imersiva. Os vocais, tanto masculinos quanto femininos, são encantadores, enquanto que o final grandioso da faixa proporciona um encerramento perfeito para o disco.

This album not only features impeccable production but also splendid musicality, with each track showcasing the mastery of the involved musicians. Marcus Viana’s violin is a constant presence throughout the tracks, adding a captivating folk touch, both South American and Celtic, alongside classical elements that enrich the album's sound.

With Farol da Liberdade, the band moved away from the new wave and pop influences of the previous album, diving into a proposal more aligned with symphonic progressive rock, a path that resonates deeply with the musicians' background. The lyrics are sensitive and meaningful, with vocals that subtly convey the emotion of the poetry.

The album opens with “Dança das Fadas,” which starts somewhat somberly, with a melancholic violin that gradually joins the band to create a vibrant Celtic sound. Despite the dark beginning, the overall atmosphere is joyful and uplifting, marking a charming contrast. “Solidariedade” begins with folk harmonies and a ballad line that evolves into a notable symphonic track. The violin elevates the music to new heights, providing a well-crafted and impactful progressive musical experience.

“Amor Selvagem” opens with a clear classical influence, reminiscent of Italian masters, and smoothly glides, enchanting the listener's soul. The lyrics are impressive, and the vocals, along with the arrangements, create a dreamlike ambiance that is captivating. The track “Pantanal” is undeniably the most well-known of the album and the band, largely due to its success as the theme for the eponymous soap opera. It features a strong symphonic appeal mixed with folk elements, and the lyrics continue to shine. The main theme abruptly shifts to a more rock line, offering a refined ending. “Olivia” emerges as a brief acoustic symphonic interlude, creating an excellent and engaging atmosphere.

However, the album suffers a minor setback with the title track, “Farol da Liberdade.” The song presents a neo-progressive approach that seems forced and uninspired, contrasting with the rest of the album. “Raio e Trovão” is a pleasant track but does not leave a lasting impact. The duels between violin, keyboards, and guitar are the most attractive aspects of the song. The final track, “The Central Sun of the Universe,” is the only one with lyrics in English and concludes the album very well. At over eleven minutes, the song combines pastoral flute, piano, orchestrations, and the majestic violin, creating an immersive sonic experience. The vocals, both male and female, are enchanting, while the grandiose ending of the track provides a perfect conclusion to the album.

Farol da Liberdade brilliantly captures the essence of symphonic progressive rock, with striking creativity and originality. It is an exceptional production that deserves a prominent place in any progressive music collection.
